GNAT Should Fulfil Objectives of Agenda 2020 - CEO

Mr Benjamin Kobina Osei, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Okyeman Consultancy firm, has tasked the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), to fulfill the objectives of Agenda 2020 that aims at getting every child in school.

Mr Osei threw the challenge at the 5th Quadrennial District Delegates Conference of Gomoa District Secretariat of GNAT held at Apam in the Central Region, on the theme: “Transforming Societies through education: The role of GNAT towards Agenda 2020.”
He said the role of education in the Global Agenda required a type of education which sought to develop the inner capacities of man.
He said this would go a long way to give people the desirable knowledge, understanding, skills, interests, attitudes and critical thinking.
He said GNAT should not only to educate its ranks and file to understand the global sustainable goals, but also empower them to express their views openly on them in whichever society they found themselves.
“Scholars are of the view that the planet earth is to day confronted with many challenges which are the creation of mankind segregated into societies- to wit, a group of people with common territory, interaction and culture”.
Mr Osei stated: “People use to ask how the world will achieve sustainable development, while addressing climate change and policy making be made more sensitive to global long term perspective.”
He said the earth required a new direction to make it sustainable for human existence.
Mr Emmanuel Eduah, of the Gomoa West Assembly urged GNAT members to continue to discharge their duties with passion, affection and in a sociable manner to improve the sterling performance they had chalked out over the years.
He said it would help in improving the education standards and also enable them reach the target for the Agenda 2020.
