Ghana to participate in Commonwealth Handball Championship

The National Men's Handball Team has been invited to participate in the forthcoming Commonwealth Inter-Continental Handball Championship scheduled for Abuja, Nigeria from December 3-13. The Handball Association of Ghana has invited 20 players and two coaches to commence training and preparation towards the event. They were selected based on their performance at the Greater Accra Regional Handball League. A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and signed by Mr Ignatius Elletey, Secretary General of the Association said the invited players were; Eric Anin, Adam Salman, Bernard Amanor, Christian Banlah, Bernard T. Ankrah and Adams Mahamah, all from the Ghana Police Service. Those from Ghana Prisons Service were; Richard Ankrah, Danlad Saliu, Hillary Mills, Theophilus Ashong and Isaac Gaina. Players from Ghana Fire Service were; Daniel Quarcoo and Eugene Ahoni. The rest were; Samuel T. Ankrah, Ebenezer Hagan and Hamza Saaka - from Ghana Armed Forces, Emmanuel Neequaye and Theophilus Tagoe from HOSTAC, Alex Asare from Greater Accra Region and Joseph Quaidoo from Asomdwee Club. The invited coaches were; National Sports Council Coaches in charge of handball development, George Bankole in Kpando and Emmanuel N.K. Ankrah in Takoradi. Mr Elletey explained that training would commence on Wednesday, November 11 at the Prison Service Headquarters in Accra. He said only 16 players would make the final squad for the tournament.
