Cape Coast MCE Confirmed

Members of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly in the Central Region on Tuesday confirmed the president’s nominee, Ernest Arthur, for the position of Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE).

Mr Arthur polled 60 votes out of the 61 cast, representing 98.36%.

DAILY GUIDE observed that the assembly hall was electrified immediately the results of the election were declared with the MCE confirmed at long last.

Mr Arthur, who looked very happy after his confirmation, thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him, adding the election would be a constant reminder for him not to take issues concerning the assembly for granted.

He stressed the need for peace in the assembly to ensure total development in the area.

He indicated that the journey to transform Cape Coast had just begun and that he would work hard to address the problems of the people, such as falling standards of education, joblessness, poverty and poor sanitation.

“We have heard these cries and drawing inspiration from the vision of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government and would work hard to achieve his vision of transforming Ghana,” he pledged.

He called on all citizens of Cape Coast – both at home and abroad – to come on board to help build a new Cape Coast, adding that the area is open for investments and his office is ready to assist in that.
