Mahama Blames The Wind For His Ill-Omened Defeat.

When a former leader is sculptured in the mode of a communications expert extraordinaire, but he lacks the wherewithal to amass the best out of a great deal of wealth in terms of human resources available to him, he hits a snag, and must be bold enough to admit to it instead of chalking it up to a factor that is too negligible to be a powerhouse in the scheme of things.

Former President John Dramani Mahama is gripped with confusion, and has resorted to pussyfooting around a subject so pedestrian to have engaged the very thoughts of a person of his calibre.

While a sizeable number of NDC supporters have had their patience being worn dangerously thin with the outcome of the Kwesi Botwey fact finding committee with the ultimate aim of establishing the contributory factors that led to the humiliating defeat of the NDC, ex-president Mahama is pushing a tangent that defies logic.

Mahama attributes his loss to the fact that the New Patriotic Party rode to victory promising Ghanaians heaven on earth.

The above stance by the ex-president largely negates the position he alluded to over a month ago. Former President John Mahama said that the NDC lost the 2016 elections because the horse(party) he rode on was lame. It is therefore weird that he is advancing a different argument as the main cause of his defeat.

It is crystal clear that Mahama is confusion personified! Subjecting what he even said to critical scrutiny, it is not too far-fetched to come to the conclusion that the New Patriotic Party promised the people programmes and policies realistically achievable. The free Senior High School programme, annihilation of nuisance taxes to liberate businesses and banks, the planting for food and crops, the fight against corruption, the one district one factory policy, amongst other projects, cannot be relegated to the background and classified as unreasonably unrealistic.

Akufo-Addo's unbridled enthusiasm to liberate a people enslaved by economic hardships popularized by John Mahama's incompetent stewardship helped the New Patriotic Party in winning the 2016 elections.

If any party promised the people heaven, then it was John Mahama's NDC! They painted a very rosy picture of the economy and their achievements in the run-up to the elections.

By this comment, John Mahama has downplayed the work of Kwesi Botwey since he seems to be armed with the very reason that caused their defeat.

Kwesi Botwey should not waste his energy crisscrossing the country in search of the factors which ganged up to deal the NDC a blow so heavy to be recovered from so easily.

To have a leader soaked in incompetence is worrying, but to have one who wallows in a confusion this magnitude is far more tragic!

P.K.Sarpong, whispers from the corridors of THE THINKING PLACE.
