The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako has denied claims by the Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah that he facilitated the travel of the Chinese “Galamsey Queen”, Aisha Huang to Ghana.

According to Solomon Nkansah, Mr Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi has a full dossier on her taking into account how he worked to ensure that she got into the country and fully aware of her operations.

He said Aisha Huang also known as Yaa Asentewaa’s illegal activities must be blamed squarely on Chairman Wontumi because he knows the stuff she is made of yet allowed her into the country to help degrade the country’s environment.

“NPP brought that galamsey queen Aisha into Ghana. In fact, the Ashanti Regional chairman Wontumi travelled all the way to China to bring her to Ghana in 2004. I’m not saying Aisha is NPP but she is a shroud and that is why they never arrested her till now” he said on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” last week.

Aisha Huang is reported to be boasting with her influence of authority and has in time past boasted of how untouchable she is.

Meanwhile, the Criminal High court presided over by Justice Charles Edward Ekow Baiden on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, remanded into prison custody the popular 31-year-old Aisha Huang.

She was remanded by the court alongside five other Chinese male nationals and are expected to reappear on the 23rd of May.

But reacting to the claims, Chairman Wontumi accused the opposition NDC of deliberately tagging him as someone, who deals in galamsey for political expediency.

According to him, he was lawfully engaging in mining activities and urged the public to disregard the NDC.

“I don’t want to comment on this issue, but what I will say now is that I have not brought anyone Chinese nationals to the country. The NDC is only trying hard to tarnish my image because of my mining company” he said on Accra-based Okay FM.

Mr Antwi Boasiako further lauded the government in its efforts in clamping down illegal activities in the country.
