MP calls for unity

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Garu Tempane Constituency, Mr Dominic Azumah Azimbe, has advised the new executive of the Upper East Region to ensure that unity prevailed in the region. The MP was speaking during the Regional Executive Election of the n NDC held on Tuesday in Bolgatanga. He advised members of the Party particularly the foot soldiers not to do anything that would drag the image of the Party into the mud. He tasked the executive to assist the youth to look for jobs and explained that it would be very na�ve and irresponsible to sack people from their jobs because they did not belong to the party in government. He said the best way to address the situation was to create more jobs to absorb the unemployed and that was what the present government was doing. He urged them to exercise restraint adding that so long as the NDC wanted to retain power in the 2012 election, it would surely deliver on its promises. In all, 117 delegates from the 13 constituencies in the region participated in the regional executive election. Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba who was elected as the Regional Chairman of the Party, polled 79 votes to beat Dr Robert Akuganaba and Adambire Solomon who got 21 and 13 respectively. Mr Adagburi Asinvim was elected the regional first Vice Chairman while Mr. Robert Apasenaba was elected the regional second vice chairman. Mr Donatus Akamugri was able to secure 68 votes to retain his seat as the Regional Secretary while Mr James Abanka was elected unopposed as the Deputy Regional Secretary. Alhaj Issah Wudu was elected the Treasurer while Mohammed Mashood was elected unopposed as the Deputy Regional Treasurer. The Regional Organizer went to Mr. Baba Kumasi whilst Mr. Issaka Haruna was elected unopposed as the Deputy Organizer. The Propaganda Secretary position was won by Mr. Bernard B. Bougzo and Saed Ahmed emerged as the Deputy Propaganda Secretary. Mr Robert Yeli-oni was elected Regional Youth Organizer, Mr. Abdul Karim Mumuni, Deputy Regional Youth Organizer, Mrs. Faustina Teni Abagre, Regional Women's Organizer, Damata Bukere, First Deputy Women's Organizer and Mrs. Benedict Nabare Second Deputy Women's Organizer.
