Veteran Channel 4 Journalist Jon Snow Endorses GUBA Awards

Renowned Channel 4 UK presenter and journalist, Jon Snow, has lent his endorsement to GUBA Awards 2017, saying the award is the future of the historic relationship between Ghana and the UK.

He said the diversity of the awards reflects the Meridian theme of “Zero Degrees of Separation’ that underpins the twin city partnership between the Royal Borough of Greenwich in London and Tema in Ghana.

In a statement congratulating Ghana on its 60th Independence Anniversary, Mr. Snow congratulated GUBA Enterprise, the parent organisation of the GUBA Awards, on carrying the torch for the Meridian Link that was established at the Millennium between Royal Greenwich and Tema, as part of the 'Down the Line' Programme to foster cultural and economic cooperation between the two cities.

I have to admit I was very disappointed after the turn of the Millennium with the lack of ‘follow through' by many projects that begun with so much promise at the time. GUBA and the West African Diaspora have brought colour and flair to London, building the Meridian Link into a development bridge north to south with Royal Greenwich”, he said.

The UK and Ghana have a shared creative and cultural heritage that has lasted for decades, he added. A full endorsement speech can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwvIOef6UYc

Dentaa Amoateng MBE, Chief Executive Officer of GUBA Awards, said the organisation is pleased to have Jon Snow’s backing. Jon Snow’s endorsement of GUBA Awards demonstrates how GUBA Awards and Ghana have been embraced by the diverse group of people in the UK, she said.

The GUBA Awards 2017 is slated for Saturday the 3rd of June 2017 at the Intercontinental London - The O2, London. Tickets for the GUBA Awards can be purchased at www.gubaawards.co.uk/ticket/
