NDC Member of Parliament for Bongo, Edward Bawa has blamed the Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu and the Attorney General, Gloria Akufo over what he believes is a conspiracy to free the members of the Delta Force who were standing trial in court.

The Delta Force members were standing trial for conspiracy to commit crime and an assault on a public officer among other charges, but were surprisingly discharged by the Attorney General for lack of evidence in the case.

The discharge of the suspects has courted controversies as critics have raised red flag over the issue.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Edward Bawa was convinced that there's a "huge conspiracy on the part of the executive" to ensure that the case is brushed away.

According to him, the Police Service, particularly the IGP, has some answers to offer Ghanaians because he strongly believes they didn't do due diligence to the issue.

He explained that one of the things that the Police should have done to ensure a continuity of the case and also prove that they were indeed seeking justice is identification parade.

He said having an identification parade would have helped people to identify the suspects, hence clarify the point on the "lack of evidence" against the suspects.

He also wondered how the suspects could be released when the IGP went to assess the issue when the Delta Force members went on rampage in Kumasi.

"I just think that the Attorney General has some answers to give to Ghanaians. I just think the IGP, who thought it was necessary to move from Accra to Kumasi because of this case, has some answers to give. And to a very large extent, the appointing authorities of these two national officers have answers to give Ghanaians”.

Edward Bawa was well convinced that the government will not let justice take its course on the suspects.

To him, the statement by the Attorney General denying knowledge of the release of the suspects is "based on the fact that they wanted to free these people and is just the backlashing that compelled them to take this particular second step...Mark my words; these guys will not be tried".
