Murder At Maamobi

The Kotobabi police have begun investigation into circumstances that led to the death of a middle-aged woman at Maamobi, a suburb of Accra.

The woman, whose name was given only as Daavi, was discovered dead with blood oozing from her nostrils on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Yvonne Cyndy Osei, Kotobabi District Commander, said the police were informed that a body was lying at the Maamobi General Hospital area that Wednesday morning.

ASP Benjamin Baah, the District Crime Officer, together with a team of detectives visited the scene to pick the body.

Upon examining the body, police detected that there were no cuts or marks of assault on the body but the nostrils were oozing with blood.

The body was then prepared for preservation while investigation continues.

According to the police officer, preliminary investigations in the area revealed that Daavi, believed to be a mentally retarded patient, used to roam in the area day and night.

Residents claimed that the only name they used to call her was Daavi.

The police have called on individuals to assist in locating the family.

Earlier reports suggested that she was slashed in the throat by some unknown persons.

The reports indicated that the woman returned to the house late on Tuesday only to be seen dead the following day.
The residents wondered who might be behind the dastardly act against such a harmless person.

A resident, Asante Amoako Boateng, who spoke to some journalists, said Daavi, a mother of four, was very popular and had lived in the neighbourhood for decades, but lately developed a psychiatric condition which made her turn the premises of the hospital into an abode.

“She used to sweep the premises of the hospital every day and even in her unstable mental state, she all the time spoke to persons she knew.

“She has never caused any problem or attacked anyone since she became ill and so we’re shocked by her gruesome death,” Asante lamented.
