A protest against the dilapidated nature of the main road linking Ablekuma-Manhean-Afuaman and Oduman-Nsakina in Greater Accra on Monday morning left hundreds of commuters in those areas stranded.
The protesters, including commercial drivers parked their vehicles and refused to pick passengers.
Others, including landlords and tenants blocked portions of the main road to prevent vehicular movement.
That was not the first time residents in the area have embarked on such an exercise.
Four years ago they took part in a massive demonstration which lasted for about 12 hours.
Unlike the first demonstration which started as early as 3:30 am and ended at 3:30 pm, Monday morning's protest was not marked with residents wearing red bands around their heads, hands, neck and waist.
Abbey reported that as early as 4am, the protesters burnt used car tyres at some vantage points of the road.
Members of the local branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) stood at designated points and prevented vehicles from moving.
Owners of private vehicles and motor cycle riders were also prevented from driving through.
