Boy,19, Kills Classmate With Drawing Board, Runs Away

A Nineteen-Year-Old pupil of the Agona East District Assembly Government School at Agona Kenyankor in the Central Region is on the run after allegedly killing his classmate with a drawing board.

James Adjei hit his classmate, Richard Larbie, with a drawing board when Larbie teased Adjei for scoring zero in a class exercise.

Speaking to this reporter, the headmaster of the school, Mr Kwesi Hezekiah, indicated that after the class teacher had given the students the exercise, Larbie teased that there would certainly be one of his classmates who would score zero in the exercise.

He explained that the ‘prophecy’ of Larbie came to pass when Adjei indeed scored zero after the marking.

The head teacher said Larbie then repeated his statement that he knew someone would score zero and that had come to pass.

He said Adjei therefore became offended, picked a drawing board and hit Larbie in his left rib.

“Master Adjei, after the blow, fell unconscious and was rushed to the nearest CHPS compound, where he was transferred to the Duakwa Salvation Army Clinic but unfortunately passed on as the doctor tried to revive him,” the head teacher said.

He added that the police at Agona Duakwa were informed about the incident and that the Agona Duakwa police command had confirmed that investigation was going on.

Reacting to the incident, the father of the deceased, Mr Samuel Ewusi, said the family was devastated by the news of their son’s death as he looked so promising.

He added that the family was awaiting the body for burial.

The father also confirmed that the same suspect was also wanted by the family for impregnating the sister of the deceased, who is eighteen years old.
