Presbyterian Church of Ghana Commissions 27 New Ministers

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Sunday commissioned 27 ministerial probationers, whom it will deploy to some of its branches across the country to serve the Church and help revive faith of members.

The new ministers, comprising 20 males and 7 females, pursued differently degree programmes in Theology at the Trinity Theological Seminary in Accra, based on which the General Assembly Council of the PCG expressed satisfaction at their work and approved their commissioning.

A former Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, Very Rev Dr Sam Prempeh administered the Ministerial vows to the newly commissioned ministers.

Preaching the sermon Very Rev Prempeh urged the new ministers to adhere to the principles of Christendom to enable them to stand as true ambassadors of Christ.

He urged them to learn to identify themselves with the practice of the Church as enshrined in the Constitution.

He told the new ministers that true Christians must show their status by portraying the character of Christ who was sinless on earth.

The former Moderator cautioned the newly commissioned ministers to be mindful of their attitudes towards the community they find themselves, their neighbours and colleagues since it could either discredit or encourage others to come to know Christ.

He urged them to rely fully on the powers of the Holy Spirit and pray to pray to God always for His direction.

In a brief address before the commissioning, Rev Samuel Wereko Bekoe, who represented the probationers, expressed his appreciation to the hierarchy of the church for their ministerial training and promised that they would do their best in their ministerial journey to lift the banner of Jesus high.

He therefore pledge on behalf of his colleagues to adhere to the commands of God and the doctrines of the Church in order to remain faithful to God and His Church. Rev Wereko Bekoe asked the church members to pray for them to ensure the success of their ministries.

Present at the well attended service were Rev Dr George Opare Kwapong, Acting Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG who acted on behalf of the substantive Moderator, Right Rev Professor Cephas Omenyo who is indisposed, Rev Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, Clerk of the General Assembly of the PCG, and the General Assembly Council members.
