Prez Akufo Addo Appoints Benonita Bismarck To Head Shippers Authority

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Ms Benonita Bismarck, a Strategic Planner and Management Consultant as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority.

In a letter of appointment to the new CEO and copied the Vice-President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff and the Transport Minisiter, President Akufo-Addo wrote: "Pursuant to section 8 (1) of the Ghana Shippers Authority Act, 1974 (N.R.C.D 254), I hereby appoint you as the Chief Executive of the Ghana Shippers Authority, pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission. I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your appointment. Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment".

Ms Bismarck, who is currently the CEO of Global Marine Services Ltd, has promised to apply her rich knowledge and experience in the maritime industry to improve the efficiency and productivity at the ports, enhance the quality of service delivery of shippers and freight-forwarders and transform the shipping industry into the beacon for economic growth in Ghana and position the industry as the maritime hub for trade and industry in the entire sub-region.

A onetime Commercial Manager at Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Ms Bismarck was also formerly the Head of Operations at the Ghana Red Cross Society.
