Woman, 30, murdered at Suhum

Joseph Tetteh, a 35-year-old fetish priest at Suhum, has been arrested by the police for murdering Rita Baah, 30, a businesswoman in the town. Police Superintendent John Asare Naami, New Juaben Municipal Commander, told the GNA that at about midnight on Saturday, the Police were informed that a man was seen carrying a woman chained to his motorbike travelling from Suhum towards Koforidua. He said the suspect was trying to dump the woman who dead by then at the road side. Superintendent Naami said when the informants were about to apprehend the suspect, he managed to flee leaving the dead body and the motorbike behind. According to him, the police quickly rushed to the area where they found the deceased and the bike, which was identified as belonging to Tetteh. The police organized the youth in the area and later arrested the suspect, who was hiding in a bush at Suhum, on Sunday, at about 0100 hours. When he was interrogated by the Police, Tetteh alleged that the woman was murdered somewhere by some unidentified people and when he came across the body he decided to take it and dump it by the roadside to appear as if she was knocked down by a vehicle. Superintended Naami said when the body of the deceased was later examined it was found out that the suspect hit her several times with an object on the forehead killing her. He said the police are continuing their investigations into the matter. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Koforidua Regional Hospital Morgue pending autopsy while Tetteh, who was severely assaulted by the search group which arrested him is currently on admission at the same hospital.
