Herbert Mensah For NDC National Chair?

The forthcoming congress of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect national officers promises to be very interesting. Names that have popped up include the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to contest for the post of First National Vice Chairman; Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah for the post of Second National Vice Chairman and Mr. Ludwig Hlodze for the National Youth Organizer position. The incumbent National Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei and the incumbent General Secretary, Mr. Asiedu Nketia, are expected to file to retain their positions. A name which had been mentioned as likely to file for the NDC National Chairmanship slot is Mr. Herbert Mensah, a former Chairman of Asante Kotoko football club, a close associate of the Rawlingses and a businessman with international connections. Speaking to the Daily Dispatch last week, Mr. Mensah denied that he has any intentions of contesting for any position in any political party. He said, Ben, you know me well, that I will never dabble in politics. I have also heard those stories but can tell you it is not true. With Mr. Mensah out of the race, will Dr. Spio-Garbrah step up and contest for the National Chairmanship?
