NPP In Turmoil After Winning The 2016 Elections - Amoako Baah

A former head at the political science department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has said his ambition to lead the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as Chairman, is due his competence and the freshness he will bring on board.

The political scientist said some individuals who believe in his ideas and zeal want him to represent them as National Chairman.

Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Dr. Baah said the current stormy waves within the circles of the party was worrying hence the need to have someone who will be able to unite the front of the elephant family.

He confirmed to the host that he has been a registered member of the NPP but has been fair and firm in criticizing successive governments.

Dr. Amoako Baah refuted suggestions that his desire to run for the National Chairmanship position is meant to draw attention unto himself so the president will appoint him.

The internal wrangling within the ruling party is unfortunate; the Otiko and Bugri Naabu saga was not the best. For how long have we been in power? But look at what is happening. There is no stability and peace within the party.

Nana Addo has said, the battle is of the Lord but if you have on the elections and you have an internal wrangling, how do you succeed? The disapproval of Nana Addo’s MMDCEs is not the best and these are some of the issues we need to resolve as party in government.

Dr. Amoako Baah when asked what he will do differently from what the Acting Chairman, Freddie Blay has done for the party he said, ‘’I will not say the chairman has not done well, but there are others who can do better.

There are people who are competent and can handle the party in a better way. There is a vacuum and that is why I want to contest so I help my party and my country.’’

He said, I will be meeting with some senior members of the party and will finally declare and start my campaign.

There is something wrong with the party and we must work it out.
