Various scientific theories and discoveries from ancient times up till today have come under serious condemnation by a senior lecturer at Sunyani Polytechnic over what he claims is �an attempt to nullify the creation powers of God.��I have seen that the perfect will of God concerning creation has been despised by scientists. Also God together with the universal church of Jesus Christ have been pushed to the wall,� Sir Johnson Anane lamented.The diehard Christian has therefore challenged the International Council of Scientific Union (ICSU) or their representatives in Africa or Ghana to come forward with answers and proof to the four thematic topics namely, the universe-the solar system, the movement of the earth, Darwin�s theory of evolution and some natural laws such as the gravitational force of the moon. Sir Johnson, who presented a document to Daily Guide disputing most of the scientific claims, condemned in no uncertain terms Karl Max�s maxim that �the real task of the scientific body is to change the world.� �Change what?� he enquired. �I have seen that those sayings are opposing the will of God and that it is an insult against God and Christians worldwide.� In his view, scientists have crossed the boundary. This, according to him, has limited the powers of God. �God is no more seen in this world,� he said. According to Sir Johnson, the earth is not hanging in space immobile like a football resting on the ground as scientists claim. He said if the globe or the world is a circle, there will be no place one can stand to measure its movements. He explained that earth�s movements cannot be determined by science or scientists, saying �the word of God or the Bible states it categorically that God suspends the earth on nothing, in other words, it is in the hand of God and can never be moved.� On Darwin�s Theory of Evolution which says that man evolved from animals (Apes and Monkeys) but not God who created him in His own image, Sir Johnson expressed worry about the assumption. �This is a disgrace and an insult to God as well as man,� he noted. Scientists say the earth is approximately 93million miles away from a huge ball of fiery gases, called the sun which lies at the centre of the solar system. However, the lecturer indicated that no one has ever seen the actual size of the sun as scientists use approximations to determine distances from it. �If this is the case, how can they talk about the temperature, the size, the mass, some substances like sodium, iron of the sun?� Sir Johnson, who backed all his claims with biblical quotations, however stated his exposition into science and biblical views of the world, is not to condemn education or the study of science, �I would like the scientific community and the general public to also note that there is a clear distinction between spiritual and physical things or celestial and terrestrial things.� He also mentioned that science and technology have helped the world in some areas through research such as development of agriculture, electricity, mechanics, human biology, and others, thus he has no intention to condemn them, but to reveal to the world, especially scientists that it is God who created the whole universe and all things therein.
