Kpassa Chief Gives Land For One District One Factory

The Paramount Chief of Kpassa, Ubor Konja Thasan VI, has released 3,000 acres of land to government towards the implementation of the ‘One-District One-factory’ policy in the area.

The move is to facilitate the rapid establishment of a factory in the area to provide jobs for the youth, who are migrating to cities to search for jobs.

The Nkwanta North District Chief Executive (DCE), Jackson Jakayi, who disclosed this to DAILY GUIDE, indicated that the area, which is predominantly a farming community, was ready to assist government to implement the policy successfully.

He therefore called on government to fast-track the process of establishing the factory, which would go a long way to improve the living conditions of the people.

The area is well known for the production of yam and cassava in very large quantities and we advocate the establishment of yam and cassava processing factory for the area to add value to the produce, he added.

Mr. Jakayi pointed out that the poor road network is negatively affecting trade and business activities, as the farmers struggle to transport their produce to markets.

The district does not have a government hospital and the entire area is relying on two private health facilities which is forcing health workers to refer serious health complications to Nkwanta South.

“We want a government hospital to be established at Kpassa, which is the district capital, to serve the people so that serious health problems that are always referred to Nkwanta South can be handled here in Kpassa, because sometimes by the time they get to Nkwanta South the ailment aggravates,” he noted.

Mr Jakayi also appealed to government to extend electricity to homes in the area and provide financial assistance to farmers to help improve their yields.
