NPP To Hold Thanksgiving Service For Free SHS

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold an all-night thanksgiving service in Kumasi on Sunday to thank God for a successful implementation of the Free SHS programme.

The Free SHS programme will relieve the burden of Parents of over 400,000 students entering senior high school for the first time after qualifying from the Junior High School level to the Senior High School level as government rolls out the programme this academic year.

President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to embrace the policy and support it to succeed, maintaining that: “The policy is not about the NPP or the NDC; the beneficiaries will not only be NPP sympathizers; they will be Ghanaians”.

It is with this that, the Ashanti regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako disclosed that the NPP government will hold a thanksgiving service with various renowned pastors residing in the Ashanti Region to thank God respectively.

“We would have an all-night service to thank God. It will happen in Kumasi around Ash FM. Pastors such as Kofi Amponsah, Osofo Antwi will be around. Prophet One and Opambour will also embark on theirs for the successful implementation of the programme…” he said on Accra based Neat FM.

When asked about the allegations of the opposing NDC party claiming the Free SHS programme will only favour first year students, the NPP chairman debunked the assertions claiming it’s a step by step process.

Chairman Wontumi as he is popularly known explained that, unlike the NDC where free SHS couldn’t cut across all the regions in the country, President Akufo-Addo has made it available for everyone regardless their tribe, location or region.

“It’s a step by step process. He should have started with piloting but he didn’t. He is using the first years then it will continue from there. The NDC couldn’t do this…” he said.

“Akufo-Addo has fulfilled the free SHS promise. Akufo-Addo didn’t specify regions. He cut it across all the regions in the country. He loves Ghanaians and they love him too…” Mr Wontumi added.
