The purported escape of Private Seth Goka, one of the three soldiers standing trial for allegedly murdering Alhahi Issa Mobilla raises more questions, which ought to be answered in all honesty and truth by the military authorities. in our last Monday�s issue, we published that Pte Goka may not have escaped after all but may have been sent on an official assignment abroad at the prodding and instance of a highly placed official in the national security set up. Goka�s escape broke, those who spin for the government sought to spin that that he escaped when the Kufuor administration was in office. That laughable yarn has quickly been withdrawn as it is coming out clearly that the soldier beat it this year. Since the ruling party made it a mantra in its manifesto that they will get justice for Issa Mobila even before they came into office, many are at a loss as to why immediately there was a change of government, they did not check to ensure that all the accused persons in the case were available for trial. This is where GO smells official complicity in the escape of Pte. Goka. The circumstances of the escape of Pt. Goka should not be shrouded in any secrecy. The military authorities ought to provide further and better particulars as to the exact circumstances under which the accused person left his lodgings at Michel Camp. Further, all military records regarding where he has been should be provided to help clear the dust once and for all. It is important that our military continues to maintain the trust and faith that Ghanaians have in that institution. The continued silence in the face of the popping questions over the escape of Pte. Goka beg for answers. Somebody ought to be punished for the Houdini act of Pte. Goka and that can only be done if the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth surrounding the so-called escape is established.
