Mfantseman East NPP elects a new chairman

Mr Bernard Grant, a 40-year- old finance officer, has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Mfantseman East constituency. This was at a constituency delegates' conference at Ekumfi Essarkyir that 435 delegates attended. Mr. Grant polled 290 votes to beat his two challengers, Mr. Abu Saddiq Abban, former Mfantseman Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) who had 73 votes and Mr. Isaac Felix Appiah, former constituency chairman, who polled 47 votes. Mr. Robert Amoah polled 210 votes to defeat Mr. Mohammed Nsaako who had 203 votes to become the first vice chairman, whilst Mr. Alfred Cudjoe polled 236 votes as against 172 by Mr. Isaac Nyarko to secure the second vice chairman position. Mr. Ebenezer Monney got 311 votes to defeat Mr Kingsford Amoah who got 172 voters for the position of Secretary. Mr. Jonathan Yalison Arthur was elected Assistant secretary unchallenged. Madam Araba Woode was elected Treasurer when she polled 362 to defeat Mr Kweku Essilfie Yorke who had 46 votes. The position of Organizer went to Mr. Albert Mensah who polled 242 votes as against 171 secured by Mr. Richard Amanu. Mr. Isaac Egyir was elected Youth Organizer, polling 325 votes as against 80 by Mr. Charles Aidoo. Miss Agnes Owusu had 295 votes to beat Miss Mary Andam who got 115 to retain the position of Women's Organizer. Mr. Grant assured party members that the new executive would seek their welfare at all times to enable them to work harder for the party to win the seat that had eluded them since 1992.
