An All Africa Energy Summit 2009 is scheduled for Accra on December 7 - 8. A statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency said key energy ministers, senior industry executives and energy officials would participate in the summit. Personalities expected to address the summit include, Dr Kwabena Donkor, Deputy Minister of Energy, Professor Ogunlade Davidson, Sierra Leone Minister of Energy of and Dr Eugene Shannon, Minister of Energy, Mines and Land of Liberia. The statement said the panellists would be Mr E. Labode Akinosho, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Oando Exploration and Production Limited, Oando Plc, Mr Galib Virani, Head of Acquisitions, Afren Plc, Mrs Harriet Wereko-Brobby, General Manager, West Africa Gas Pipeline Company and Ms Angelina Mornah Domakyaareh, Director, Legal Services and Board Secretary, Volta River Authority The rest are Mr Luis Paquete A. Teixeira, Director General, National Petroleum Agency, Sao Tome and Principe, Mr Theo Sackey, Energy Finance Specialist, Africa Finance Corporation, Mr Alexandre Vial, Director, Enercap, France and Mr Frank Mugisha, Principal Geophysicist and Seismic, Petroleum Exploration and Production Department, Uganda. The statement said the summit was being organised by Magenta Global Pte Ltd, in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the Ministry of Energy. Summit supporters include the Association of Ghana Industries, Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Afren, Oando, Dewey & LeBouef and Vanco. Focusing on new opportunities in the emerging Africa, the Summit would gather international business leaders and industry professionals to provide in-depth market knowledge and latest industry updates, as well as discussing key developments in Africa's prospective energy sector. It said there was no lack of new energy projects on the continent and listed oil find in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire and Sao Tome and Principe. The discussion would also centre on the potential of Ghana as the hub for West Africa. Professional networking sessions would be held for delegates to forge partnerships and build significant business leads with investors, stakeholders, potential collaborators as well as the who's who of the energy, oil and gas industry.
