DFP salutes Muslims

The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), on Friday commended Muslims for ensuring a successful Eid Ul Adha festival. The party also extended its goodwill to all Muslims particularly those who travelled from Ghana to Mecca to perform the annual Hajj. A statement issued by Mr. Bede A. Ziedeng, General Secretary of the DPP in Accra, acknowledged the fact that the Hajj, was one of the fundamental pillars of Islam. It said so much importance was attached to the spiritual rite that had taken some Muslims their life-time savings to be able to undertake it. The statement said the Hajj offered Muslims the opportunity to sacrifice to Allah and to receive his blessings in emulation of Prophet Ibrahim who was prepared to offer his son to God, in place of a ram as a show of love to his creator. It expressed the hope that the pilgrims would return home imbued with the belief that the blessings of Allah would guide them for the rest of their lives. The DFP asked the pilgrims to use the religious exercise to transform their lives for others to emulate. The party expressed the belief that whatever blessings bestowed on Muslims by Allah during the celebration of Eid Ul Adha would be used to influence the direction of the rest of humanity in a most positive way to the extent that the world would become a better and happier place for all. The statement congratulated the organisers of this year's Hajj, and the government, for putting in place excellent hitch-free measures that offered the pilgrims some level of dignity and comfort. The party asked future Hajj organisers to build on this year's experience in order to make the exercise more meaningful.
