President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, has called on supporters of Wa All Stars to see the Club as a national team that is open to all category of players in and outside the country. Mr Nyantakyi said it was therefore wrong for any group of supporters to think that the entire playing body should come from the Wa Municipality and only players from there alone should be allowed to feature in the Club's matches. "Let us not organise the Club like a District Assembly or Parliamentary elections where every electoral area and constituency are represented. The game of football is open to all and it is only on merit that players are selected to play in matches involving their clubs", Mr Nyantakyi advised. The GFA President was interacting with Journalists in Wa after he had met with supporters of the Club to outline his vision for the team and the role expected of supporters and sympathisers to help achieve the vision and success of the Club. Mr Nyantakyi who is also the President of Wa All Stars, urged the supporters to be more concerned about looking for strategic investors to buy Club's shares to help sustain its finances and recruit more qualified players to sustain its performance. He also advised the supporters behave properly and decently whether in defeat or in victory and encouraged the players to put in their best to raise the name of the Club among the "big and elite Clubs in the country and Africa". "Wa All Stars is the only Premier League Club in the Upper West Region and all stakeholders must give their unflinching support to it to unearth talents from the communities to build a formidable team to stay on forever", he said. President Nyantakyi announced that the Club was in the process of acquiring 20 plots of land to develop a Club House and playing grounds for the team. He said development of juvenile football was one of his priority areas and promised to provide footballs and jerseys for the 17 juvenile clubs in the Wa Municipality while a number of trophies would also be provided for Senior High Schools to be competed for at Inter-Schools competitions to unearth talents for the Club and the Region. On the performance of the Club, he admitted that the start of the League was poor and observed that goal scoring had been the bane of the club, saying: "We are working hard to address such challenges". Some supporters, however, attributed the abysmal performance of the Club in recent times to the transfer of some key players to other clubs last year. The GFA President however disagreed with that assertion and said transfer of players was something that could not be stopped not even the "big clubs" can stop it because football is business and business needs more investments to grow". Mr Nyantakyi announced that Parma Football Club in Italy has secured the first option to sign on Bright Addae and that prevents All Stars from releasing him to any other Club. He said Addae would join Parma in 2011 since the player was under 18 years and cannot thus be released a juvenile.
