The state is said to owe Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief (MMDCEs), appointed by ex-President John Dramani Mahama, three months’ salary.
These MMDCEs, who were appointed during the tenure of the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, are demanding their cash.
One of the affected MMDCEs, Ofori Agyeman Boadi aka ‘Zuba’, the ex-MCE for Obuasi, urged President Akufo-Addo’s government to settle the debt.
He disclosed that the NDC MMDCEs left office without receiving their last three months’ salary and they (MMDCEs) are demanding the money.
“We left office without receiving our last three months’ salary. The current chief of staff, under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, is aware.
“In fact, the chief of staff has assured us that the government would settle the unpaid salary and we are expecting government to do so”, he said on Nhyira fm.

Zuba also urged the NPP administration to settle the debt that government owed the school feeding operators during the NDC’s regime
He alleged that the NPP government had sacked some school feeding operators based on political influence without settling their outstanding debts.
Zuba also disclosed that almost half of fuel/gas stations in the country are owned by politicians, including top gurus in both the NPP and NDC.
He said that government’s effort to ensure the proper siting of fuel stations would face obstacles, since such top personalities would resist the move.
