Make Christmas accident free

Mr. Joseph Kwabena Nyamaah, vice chairman of Nkoranza district branch of Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) has advised drivers to avoid all negative road activities to make Christmas festivities accident-free. Desist from over speeding and unnecessary overtaking and ensure the regular maintenance of vehicles to make them roadworthy to forestall any negative outcome at all times. The PROTOA vice chairman was addressing drivers of the association at a meeting at the Nkoranza lorry station at the weekend to share ideas on how they could avoid accidents before, during and after the yuletide. Mr. Nyamaah deplored the practice whereby some drivers over sped to overtake colleagues in their bid to get passengers and cautioned that the practice was too dangerous as it caused accidents and must be stopped. He asked them to adhere strictly to road regulations as disciplined drivers and should always keep to their lanes on the road and called on the station guards to monitor the activities of drivers to ensure they did not drive while drank. Mr. Nyamaah asked drivers who ply on the Nkoranza-Ejura highway to be alert all the time the many sharp curves on it could get them involved in accidents. Wofa Kofi Adu, PROTOA station manager, advised drivers to dress decently and to keep their vehicles clean at all times and cautioned that those whose vehicles have worn out tyres would be denied entry at local station. "A professional and disciplined driver is the one who drives safely on the road and returns from work without any problem and such a person would always be appealing to passengers", he added.
