Jubilation Galore! Over New Ga Mantse’s Acceptance Into GTC

Newly installed Ga Mantse, Dr King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, yesterday took further steps to consolidate his position as he was officially inducted into the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) by the Acting President of the Council, Nii Dodoo Nsaki II.

With hundreds of youth from Ga communities gathering at the Council at Kaneshie, Accra, the arrival of Dr. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Principal Kingmaker of Ga Paramount Royal Stool, Dr. Nii Tetteh Kwei II, and Ga Stool Father (Ga Seitse),Tetteh Ashong V, was characterised by drumming and dancing amidst wild jubilation.

The event, which was led by Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, saw some of the Ga Asafo groups chanting Ga war songs amidst drumming.

The ceremony was under heavy security to ensure law and order and prevent any attacks from other feuding factions. This will therefore pave the way for the official outdooring of Dr King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as the substantive Ga Mantse to succeed the late Boni Nii Amugi II who passed away eight years ago.

Addressing a news conference which was attended by some of the kingmakers of the Ga State, Wulomei (Priests) and some sub-chiefs, Dr. Nii Tetteh Kwei II called on people he described as ‘pretenders’ laying claim to the Ga Paramount Stool to desist from further provocations that violated the decency of all Gas.

“All truth loving Gas must rally behind the new King in the transformation of the Ga State and the ushering in of a new era of progress and prosperity,” he said to cheers from the crowd.

For his part, Acting President of Ga Traditional Council, Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, thanked members of the Council for doing their legitimate duties by inducting the new Ga Mantse into the Council.

According to him, his outfit’s decision was as a result of the final ruling dated February 2, 2015 by the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs (GARHCs), the consolidated position challenging the installation of the late King Tackie Tawiah III.

To this end, the acting president of Ga Traditional Council wished the new Ga Mantse success in his reign.

Among the high profile chiefs and principal elders of the Ga State who witnessed the ceremony included Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor II, Akumanjay Mantse Nii Ayikai III, Head of Abola Piam and Akropong Division, Nii Akropong IV.

Others were Head of the Nii Teiko Tsruru family, Nii Teiko Abonua IV, Head of Amugi We, Nii Amui DE graft Quaye, Nai Wulomo, Numo Akua Mensah III, Korle Wulomo, Numo Ayitey Kobble III, Nii Tackie Abia II.
