Government to upgrade less endowed schools

The Minister of Education, Mr Alex Tettey-Enyo has stated that government's decision to upgrade less endowed senior high schools is on course. The minister said government would do everything possible to improve on conditions in the schools to make them attractive to students. Mr Tettey-Enyo gave the assurance when he inspected projects at Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School at Ekumfi Essarkyir. He was in the school to join Ahmadiyya students and staff in the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha. He commended the headmaster and staff for working under difficult conditions including lack of accommodation, which compels some of them to travel long distances to school and back. The minister advised the Ahmadis to learn from the tenets of the Eid-ul-Adha festival, which originated from the sacrifice of Ibrahim when he agreed to a request from God to use his only begotten son, Ishmael as a sacrifice to Him. He said apart from the sacrifice, the scenario also taught the people obedience which the youth must imbibe to develop upright character. Mr Issah Mumuni Dimbie, Headmaster expressed gratitude to the minister for the love shown to the students and staff through the unannounced visit. He said even though the school faced many challenges, they would work hard to improve upon standards.
