‘SOS’ For 32 SHSs -Govt Invites Tenders To Construct 34 New Structures

Government has commenced processes to construct 34 infrastructure projects to address acute challenges facing some 32 senior high schools (SHSs) in the country.

Sixteen SHSs will receive dormitories each, seven will each receive a 12-unit classroom block, two will receive a six-unit classroom block each, four will benefit from assembly halls, three will receive 12-seater toilets, one will receive an administration block, and another will receive a three-unit science laboratory.
This is contained in an invitation for tender by the Ministry of Education published in the media.

According to the information, the projects are being funded by budgetary allocations for the Ministry of Education intended for infrastructural development works.

Dormitories for SHSs

SHSs that are to benefit from dormitories include Jacobu STHS in the Amansie Central District of Ashanti Region; Mansoman Senior High school - Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region; Bodwesango Senior High school - Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region; St Sebastian Senior High School - Ejisu Juaben Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region; Berekum SHS - Berekum Municipal of the Brong Ahafo Region; Sumaman Senior High School - Jaman North of the Brong Ahafo Region; and Mount Sinai Senior High School - Akuapem North in the Eastern Region.

Others are Ofori Panin Senior High School - East Akim in the Eastern Region; Kade Senior High School – Kwaebibirem in the Eastern Region; St Charles Senior High School – Tamale in the Northern Region; Gambaga Girls Senior High - East Mamprusi in the Northern Region; Tempane Senior High School - Garu Tempane in the Upper East Region; and Vakpo SHS - North Dayi of the Volta Region.

The rest are Asukawkaw Senior School - Krachi East District of the Volta Region; Fiaseman Senior High School - Tarkwa Nsuaem in the Western Region; Takoradi Senior High - Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly in the Western Region.

12-Unit classroom blocks for 7 SHSs

SHSs to benefit from a 12-unit classroom block include Yamfo Anglican SHS - Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region; Academy of Christ - Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly in the Central Region; Gomoa Senior High/Tech - Gomoa District in the Central Region; and Diaspora Girls Senior High School - Akuapem South Municipal Assembly of Eastern Region.

Others are St Thomas Aquinas SHS - Accra Metro; Nungua Senior High - Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region; and Huni Valley Senior High School - Prestea Huni Valley District of the Western Region.

6-Unit classroom block for 2 SHSs

Two SHSs – Tempane Senior High School in the Garu Tempane District of the Upper East Region and Hilla Limann Senior High in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region – are to benefit from a six-unit classroom block each.

Assembly Halls for 4 SHSs

According to the tender information, four SHSs will benefit from the construction of assembly halls.

They are Jachie-Pramso SHS - Bosomtwi District of Ashanti Region; Kumasi Senior High School - Kumasi Metro in the Ashanti Region; Winneba Senior High School – Efutu in the Central Region; and Akim Swedru SHS - Birim South District of the Eastern Region.
Toilets

Bomaa SHS in the Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region and Wesley Grammar School in Accra are slated to each benefit from a 12-seater toilet facility.

Administration block

Ntruboman SHS in the Nkwanta South District of the Volta Region will receive a new administration block.

Science laboratory block

A three-unit science laboratory block is to be built for Mpohor Senior High School in the Mpohor District of the Western Region.

Deadline for tender

According to the publication, tenders shall be valid for a period of 90 days after the tender opening and must be accompanied by tender security amount as indicated in the publication from a reputable insurance company for each lot.

According to the information, tenders shall be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of tenderers who wish to attend at the FPMU, and cautioned that late tenders shall be rejected.
