Report On Central Medical Stores Fires Receiving Attention - Health Minister

The Ministry of Health says it has submitted the investigative report on the burnt Central Medical Stores to the Auditor General.

The Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, says the report was without forensic audit hence it was being worked on.

Speaking at the Meet the Press series Thursday, the minister however, said the ministry was sourcing funds to reconstruct the stores which burnt to ashes in January 2015.

Almost three years after the stores which held the country's medical supplies went down in flames, no one has been prosecuted although investigations pointed to arson.

The situation continue to anger some of the country's development partners including the United States and the United Kingdom, who have been complaining bitterly about the lack of action

About $80 million worth of medicines were burnt into ashes in 2015 when fire razed the Central Medical Stores at Tema in the Greater Accra Region.
