DOVVSU Manhunts Aduposo Wife-Beater

The Obuasi office of Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into the brutal assault of Madam Amma Kyerewaa, a cripple, by her husband, Akwasi Kumah, at Aduposo in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.

A source close to DOVVSU confirmed to The Chronicle at Obuasi yesterday: “We have started investigations into the assault case reported to us by Madam Amma Kyerewaah.”

Adding that efforts would be made to track Kyerewaah’s assailant, who has, since the incident, gone into hiding with the three children by his estranged wife.

The Chronicle reported in its Friday November 17, 2017 edition of an assault of Madam Kyerewaah by her husband.

Akwasi Kumah destroyed the wheel chair of his wife, burnt her hair dressing equipment, and bolted with their three kids.

Speaking to Kyerewaah yesterday at her Ahansoyewodea family house when The Chronicle visited to find out about her condition, the soft-speaking woman reiterated her request for support in the form of a wheelchair and start-up capital to resume her saloon work.

She cursed Akwasi Kumah for placing her in her present predicament. “I need my children to buy me the things I need from the market,” and passionately appealed to DOVVSU to expedite investigations into the case and bring Akwasi Kumah to book.
