Kweku Baako Is Biased And Opinionated - Arthur Kennedy

Former Communications Director of the Nana Addo 2008 election campaign team, Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, has described the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Mr. Malik Abdul Kweku Baako as biased and very opinionated. Dr. Arthur Kennedy, author of the book titled: Chasing The Elephant Into The Bush; The Politics Of Complacency, which is stirring controversy by the day, had in the last couple of days been engaged in a slinging match with the accomplished journalist Kweku Baako by trading accusations at each other over the timing and relevance of the book. According to him, he is deeply worried and sad about comments being passed about his book in the media, in spite of the fact that he had clearly outlined the reasons for penning down what accounted for the NPPs loss in the 2008 elections. I have suffered a lot in politics, and had it not been for the grace of God I wouldnt have been aliveJ.B Danquahs book was burnt in his face and his educated descendants like us have written books and people want to kill it spiritually? he asked. He further stated that since the NPP wants to win back power, the party must accept criticisms in good faith. Even if I am not worthy enough, read the book and look at my motives. Ill not do anything to tarnish the image of the party. Sometime to come in the near future, I will be appreciated, he told Kwami Sefa-Kayi. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Peace FM on Kokrokoo, Dr. Arthur Kennedy said he took a stance that controversy would not harm the credibility of the book, but stressed that there was the need for a credible assessment of the book by the likes of Kweku Baako. Some, including the Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide, Malik Kweku Baako, have questioned the timing of the release of the book, but he thinks otherwise saying, there was no better time than now to release it to teach politicians how to avoid petty mistakes during election periods. He also talked about the need to develop a culture of writing as a nation, rather than just airing our views without officially putting them on paper. The failed NPP Presidential aspirant strongly contends that there were so many things that went wrong in the NPPs campaign that could have been avoided. He said there was a need to expose incompetence in election campaigns, in a way that will not harm the party but rather help it. We had a spending committee but they were not subject to the authority of the campaign, it was a secret to the party. We must reveal it now so it does not happen again, he said. After the woeful performance of the NPP in last years General Elections, the party put together a committee that went round the entire country to collate members' views on why the party failed. The objective of the exercise is to inform planning, analyse and re-strategize for the future. Dr. Arthur Kennedy said he was one of those invited by the committee to help in its (committees) work. But he still has concerns to express. I frankly think that having the people who contributed to the defeat investigate themselves would bring a conflict of interest somewhere, He added.
