Former FIFA referee, Louis O. Laryea has been re-elected Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) for a four-year term of office. The incumbent, who has headed the Association for the past 12 years; polled 22 votes against 8 by his rival, George Teni at the Quadrennial Congress held at Koforidua last Friday. The current tenure will take Laryea, also a CAF Instructor has for many years' association with RAG up to close to three decades after serving for 10-years as the General Secretary of the Association. For the Vice Chairmanship position, new comer M.D. Arthur defeated incumbent J.K. Yakubu. Arthur polled 17 votes, six more than Yakubu's. Incumbent General Secretary Godsway Glah was also toppled by retired FIFA referee Alex Quartey. Quartey, who officiated at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002 garnered 20 votes against 9 by Glah. Incumbent C.W. Okine shrugged off challenge from Annan Lomotey to retain his position as Treasurer by 18 to 12 votes. Former FIFA referee, Albert Agbovi was re-elected unopposed as the National Instructor, while Joseph Wellington settled for the deputy slot, beating Alex Kotey by 17 to 13 votes. Meanwhile, the Congress also amended sections of its constitution as well as general issues regarding the Association.
