My Wife Collapsed After My Arrest - SDA SHS Pantry Man Tells Court

A32-YEAR-OLD Kwasi Aboagye, the pantryman remanded for stealing food items from Koforidua Asokore SDA Senior High School has expressed fear his wife may lose her life due to the shock she suffered following his arrest.

He said his wife cried and collapsed following his arrest and was hospitalized.

Aboagye has been remanded by the Koforidua Magistrate Court in police custody for allegedly stealing quantities of food items belonging to the school

The 32-year-old accused person has been charged with stealing, causing damage and unlawful entry but he pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court.

Aboagye was arrested when he attempted to smuggle quantities of food items, including bags of maize, millet, and sugar.

According to a police source, the incident occurred last Saturday when the school was busy with its church service but unfortunately he was noticed and an alarm was raised but sensing danger, Aboagye took to his heels but was chased by the students upon orders from the school authorities and he was caught and handed over to the police.

The accused person is alleged to have committed the act with an accomplice who is now at large. He also said they had removed louvres and an iron bar from a washroom in the storeroom from where he smuggled the foodstuffs with the help of his accomplice now at large .

The headmistress of the school, Hilda Yeboah, who confirmed the incident, said the school’s official complaint was lodged with the Effiduase Police Station and they would fully cooporate with them to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted.

The accused has been working with the School since October 1, 2010.
