We Must Retrieve These State Cash At All Cost!

For the second time on this page we are throwing our weight behind the Auditor-General, Mr Daniel Domelevo, to do all that is necessary to retrieve all cash paid fraudulently to various companies. In our Tuesday, December 12, 2017 edition, we reported that the A-G is on the tail of sixty-two (62) organisations which were paid monies with no documents covering the transactions.

That amount in question, which is a whopping GH¢8,886,791.9101742, covers the period between December 31, 2013 and December 31, 2015. However, a release from the A-G’s office has indicated that efforts to collect the money from those companies had been unproductive.

That, in the view of Today, is very disturbing, especially when the state needs money to build socio-economic infrastructure to improve the lot of its citizens. In fact, Today is at a loss as to why the A-G is finding it difficult to retrieve these monies.

In any case it has been established that those monies were paid fraudulently to the companies/individuals involved. Thus the question that we are asking is: why has the A-G not been able to collect back the monies to the state?

Today believes that the A-G must do more if indeed it is bent on retrieving the monies from the companies/individuals involved. It will take more than just surcharging them or publishing their names in the newspapers for them to pay their indebtedness to the state.

We believe the police must be involved to enable the A-G exert some more pressure on the companies to impress upon them to pay. Just sending them notices alone is not enough pressure for us to get back our monies.

Obviously, we must all support the A-G in whichever way we can to ensure that those state monies are paid. And to the companies/ individuals involved, we must state that we at Today will not rest until those monies are paid back to the state coffers.

It will also be a test of our resolve to fighting corruption in this country. Our determination to collect these monies and punish the companies/individuals involved will go a long way at deterring others.

There is no way we must not take back these monies, and as we have stated Today will not rest until the monies are paid!
