The Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Somuah Obeng, has advised parents to invest in their children's education to acquire the requisite knowledge to contribute to the nation's development. He said the high illiteracy rate in the country was affecting development and urged parents and the rich in society to assist in the education of brilliant but needy children. Mr Obeng gave the advice at the fifth anniversary celebration of "Ahenemmba" Ladies Club, a ladies organization at Nkawkaw. He said as women and caring mothers, they should encourage their fellow women and their husbands to send their children to school and help educate the under privilege children in the society. Mr Obeng said the country's development would be retarded if parents failed to educate their children. The Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkawkaw, Mr Okerchiri Kwabena Adusa, advised the women to unite and co-operate with each other to enable them to mobilize resources to undertake projects that would benefit the entire society. Mrs Elsie Abankwa, Assembly-member for the Nkawkaw-Nsuta Electoral Area, advised the women to guard against eating too much fatty foods and to examine their breast regularly for early detection of breast cancer. Nana Agyeiwaa, President of the Club, said the aim of the organization was to assist orphans and other needy people in the society. He said the club had therefore adopted the "Tomo-Ni" Orphanage at Obomeng for the past four years.
