Tema MCE donates to Muslims

Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), on Wednesday donated 1,000 Ghana Cedis to the Tema Metropolitan Chief Imam, in fulfillment of the promise made by government to Muslims towards the Islamic Development Fund. He recalled that during the out-dooring of the Metro Chief Imam on October 25 this year, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Foreign Minister, on behalf of the President, disclosed government's interest to support the Muslim community. Mr Ofosuware advised the Chief Imam to manage the money well for the attainment of the purpose for which it was given. The MCE charged the Muslim community to see the development of Tema as a priority, and to also co-exist peacefully with the other religious groups. He said he would monitor the utilization of the fund, and make sure that the money was used for the purpose for which it was donated on behalf of the President. Alhaji Salley Iddrisu-Sika, Metropolitan Chief Imam, thanked the President for the gesture and the confidence the government had in Muslims. He commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for organizing an incident-free and peaceful Hajj. The Metro Chief Imam said the money would be invested in projects, such as the building of schools for the Muslim community, and assisting the aged in accessing the National Health Insurance. Alhaji Iddrisu-Sika gave the assurance that the Muslim community in Tema would be sensitized to ensure that there was always peace and unity among them and the other religious groups.
