The quest of movie producers in Ghana to get to the international level is gradually being achieved but not without hazards and problems in the industry. There is no need to always think that the problems in the movie industry is always about money but more personal character and behaviourial conditions. It can be recalled last week that one of the longest film producers Idikoko complained bitterly about the fact that banks and some corporate institutions are not investing in the movie industry to make it very viable. In our quest to go beyond the financial problems being suffered by movie producers, Flex reporters moved on to find out more behaviourial challenges especially on set. Our search brought out different names but most of the producers pleaded anonymity so we did not take delight in publishing the names that came out of our search. Alhaji Abdul Salam Mumuni is the chief executive officer of Venus Films Productions who did not prove anonymity. When we got to his office located inside Dansoman Russia road, he revealed that there are more indiscipline actors in the industry even beyond what we can imagine. �The actors you see in movies are very indiscipline to the extent that if you don't control them well on set, they will always force you to elapse your production schedules�. As usual Alhaji Abdu Salam mentioned some big names in the industry who have been spared based on obvious reasons. Another producer who is known for his interest in producing long standing movies also added his voice to the call and added that it is due to some of these character that is why producers are shying away from using known faces in their movies. �Some people often ask me why I am fond of using new faces in my movies and I always say it is due to indiscipline. When they make the name, they even forget that it was somebody who picked them from no where and made them who they are today. The people that I raised from the beginning of their career now think that they will cheapen themselves if they star in my movies. So anytime you call them for shooting, they give you so many excuses that you cant understand. This should stop because it is not helping us at all� this producer known for his garrulity on radio said in a chat. One producer who is only producing Akan movies put it simply adding that they think they are now popular and powerful than you the one who used your money to propel the fame they are enjoying. �Its high time we go for the new ones and also give them the platform to show the world what they have. It is in the wake of this that`s why some of us have started acting training centres which will give training to the wannabee. They will one day pass away and fade out in the system and that will be when they will be begging and chasing us out for scripts� a producers cry. The actors reasons for shunning the producers who started with them have not yet been explained by them as we take some days out to find out what has been causing their rejection. This reporter once heard a top actor saying because one producer started with him, he doesn`t even want to talk business with him when he needs him in his movies. The drama unfolds so get ready for the side of the actors in such situations.
