Fare Thee Well, Alhaji Bature!!!

The death of Alhaji Bature indeed came as a shocker and indeed hit those of us in the inky fraternity, and more especially when we were only a few days into 2018. Yet again, Ghana has lost a key player whose contributions on issues of national subjects helped the course of our democratic dispensation.

Last year we lost our illustrious host of popular political talk show on Asempa FM, Ekosi Sen, Kwadwo Asare Baffour Achemapong, whose sudden death shocked largely the entire Ghanaian population. And as we were all trying to get over that loss, here come another sad one—Alhaji Bature’s death.

Until his death, Alhaji Bature was the Editor-in-Chief of the Alhaji Newspaper. Though a senior member of the inky fraternity, Alhaji Bature was a sharp critic of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it must be pointed out that some of his constructive criticisms helped kept the NPP whether in government or in opposition on its toes.

Additionally, Bature was a die-in-the-wool supporter of the NDC. He never, for once, shied away from taking on his own party. That, he constantly did, to ensure that the NDC projected a good image and also contributed its quota towards the development of mother Ghana.

At every least opportunity that he got Bature made sure he reminded the Akufo-Addo administration to fulfill its promises it made to the good people of this country. Bature, indeed would be missed!

But be it as it may, Today takes solace in the fact that he has played his part in the building of a prosperous Ghana. His role in our democratic dispensation cannot be overly emphasised.

For us at Today we cannot but celebrate him for his invaluable contributions towards developing Ghana. We pray that Allah will give his family the fortitude to withstand this painful loss.

Again, we pray that Almighty Allah will keep his soul safe, and to our colleague and friend Alhaji Bature those of us at Today say Damirifa Due!!! Due Ni Amanehunu!!
