US NGO assists Bomaa to address their dental needs

Global Associate for Health Development Incorporated, a non-governmental organization (NGO) in the United States of America, has donated dental equipment valued at US$ 50,000 to the chiefs and people of Bomaa in the Tano North District of Brong Ahafo for the establishment of a dental clinic in the community. The equipment include Chayes Dental Chair/cuspidor dental unit, Pelton Crane Pole mounted overhead light, doctor's stool, GE73 wall mount Xray machine grey, Star in wall view box, three Pelton Crane Track Lights, Pelton Crane over the patient dental unit and cuspidor, Compressor unit, Air star 5 oval head model, Dentsply film duplicator and a computer monitor. A retired Professor in Health Administration and Nursing Education, Dr. Mignon Smith, who is the founder and president of the organization, told the Ghana News Agency at Bomaa that the gesture was in fulfillment of the NGO's primary objective and mission. Dr. Smith, Nkosuohemaa (Development Queen) of Bomaa with the stool name Nana Agyeiwaa Kodie, explained that the organization contribute to upgrading health standards and "to identify and remove obstacles to maximum health care and wellness." She said the NGO, based in the state of New York, believed in holistic health care, "which is the psychological, physical and spiritual well-being of the human person." It comprises of members with diverse professional background such as nurses, medical and legal practitioners, educationists, journalists, administrators and clergymen. Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, who received the equipment on behalf of the community, commended the NGO and expressed the hope that the presentation would be a stimulus for other philanthropists and charitable organizations to follow suit. The Regional Minister said the responsibility of meeting the socio-economic needs of the people could not be borne by the government alone and asked individuals, private business concerns and corporate organizations to assist for the total development of the country. Nana Kwafo Akoto, Chief of Bomaa, expressed the appreciation of the community to the organization and gave the assurance that the equipment would be put to effective use. The clinic, on completion, would serve the entire catchments area of the two Tano North and South districts. The chief appealed to the Regional Coordinating Council and the Regional Health Directorate to assist the community to make the clinic operational.
