Members of the Ghana Water Company Women Association (GWCWA), on Thursday presented assorted items worth GH�1,000 to the inmates of Weija Leprosarium to improve their livelihood.
The items were made up of bags of rice, second hand clothing, packets of toilet rolls, cartons of soap, detergents, biscuits, vegetables, and gallons of cooking oil.
Mrs Cynthia Hiram Yaro, President of the association, presenting the items said it was to show compassion and love for deprived people in society who had been rejected by their families.
She said: "it is our desire to assist the inmates to have a more comfortable life especially during the yuletide".
"The Bible urges us to be our brother's keeper and support them when in distress, "she added.
Mrs Yaro said the association was determined to support the less privileged in society and put smiles on their faces.
Madam Gladys Adobea, Head of the inmates who received the items on behalf of Reverend Father Andrews Campbell, Head of the Leprosarium, thanked the women for their kind gesture.
She pointed out that because the inmates did not have enough strength to work to support their children's education philanthropists, institutions and organisations should continue to assist them.
