“Ebony Can Only Win Artiste of Year If I Am Not Nominated” – Shatta Wale

It is not a secret that Shatta Wale is eyeing the ultimate award at this year’s up coming VGMAs.

The controversial Dancehall artiste who has expressed his interest to be part of the Vodafone Ghana Awards (VGMAs) 2018, since the beginning of this year, said there is no way sensational Singer Ebony will win the ‘Artiste of the year’ if he is nominated in that category.

Speaking on Okay FM’s “Ekwansodwoodwoo” drive time program, Shatta said “Ebony go fit win artiste of the year only if I no dey inside. If I dey inside, I go win am”.

“Ebony is my girl and I really love her and what she is doing but as for the artiste of the year, unless they don’t nominate me, before she can win. So she should just pray they don’t nominate me”, Shatta said when he was asked if he agrees with those who think Ebony deserves to win the ultimate award this year.

Ebony made massive waves in the 2017 with over six hit songs released back to back including “Poison”, “Sponsor”, “Hustle”, “Maame Hw3” among others. She released her maiden “Bonified” album, staged her own “Bonified concert” at West Hills Mall and performed on every major event across the country last year.

It is against the background that some people believes it’s her time and she therefore deserves to win the enviable ‘artiste of the year’ award, but Shatta Wale said that can only happen if he is not nominated.

Sharing his achievement in 2017, Shatta said he released about 125 new songs with several hits including “Taking Over”, “Ayoo”, “Forgetti”, “Freedom”, “Dem Confused” among others. Adding that he performed on several stages across the country, in America and Europe and he had a unique opportunity to meet the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
