TEWU Gets New Deputy General-Secretary

The National Executive Council Meeting of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) of the Trade Union Congress-Ghana has confirmed Mr Mark D. Korankye as the new Deputy General-Secretary.

Mr Augustine Saakuur Karbo, the General Secretary of TEWU, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday, said until his confirmation, Mr Korankye was the Second National Trustee of TEWU.

Mr Korankye is also a professional Administrator and currently the Registrar at the GIMPA Faculty of Law.

He occupies the position of Deputy General-Secretary with a wealth of excellent managerial and inter-personal experience, which would help to propel the union to higher heights in Ghana’s competitive labour environment.

The statement said a professional Accountant, Madam Bintu Fati Awudu, was also elected as the Second National Trustee of TEWU who is currently the Eastern Regional Chairperson of the Union.

With the election of the two new executives, the statement said TEWU now had in place its full complement of national leadership.

The National leadership of TEWU are Mr Peter K. Lumor, National Chairman, Mr Bismark Bawa, First National Chairman, Florence Agyei-Wiredu, Second National Chairperson, and Augustine Saakuur Karbo, General Secretary.

Others are Mr Mark D. Korankye, Deputy General Secretary, Dr. William Adjei-Twumasi, First National Trustee, and Bintu Fati Awudu, Second National Trustee.
