Cop’s Murder: Adwoa Safo Consoles Widow

Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo has in the wake of recent attacks at the Kwabenya police station by armed men, visited the family of the slain cop to commiserate, comfort the widow and to financially support the family as they grief the loss of their husband, father and son.

The deceased, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi, was reportedly shot by armed men during a raid at the police station and passed on after being rushed to the 37 Military Hospital Sunday January 21, 2018.

The robbers visited the station on Monday dawn, confronted the policemen on duty and released some seven suspects who were detained at the station.

Whereas the Accra Police Command has begun a manhunt for all seven suspects, many, including reps from the presidency have already visited the family to pay their respects and to share in their grief.

Member of Parliament in charge of the area, Adwoa Safo, after visiting the police station on Wednesday January 24 to ascertain the details of the issue, passed by the residence of the slain cop to commiserate with the family.

She encouraged the widow and donated some money to support the family.

Meanwhile, the police have begun investigations into the issue to bring to book the perpetrators involved in the crime.

Miss Safo, speaking to journalists at the station indicated that the Inspector General of Police; IGP and the Interior Minister appeared before the Interior and Defence Committee of Parliament to answer questions regarding the incident after which a report will be produced before parliament and a consensus on the way forward reached.

In the midst of panic and fear following the incident, the MP assured constituents of maximum protection as the appropriate authorities are working hard to resolve the issues and guarantee their safety.
