Samira Bawumia Speaks On Health Status of Husband

Second lady, Samira Bawumia says her husband is doing well and 'looks forward to returning to work soon'.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia left Ghana for the United Kingdom on medical leave after the Presidency in a statement indicated that he had taken ill. He was accompanied by his wife, Samira.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has called for more clarity from the Presidency as far as the health status of the Vice President is concerned.

Meanwhile, the Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, has stated that the decision to fly Dr. Bawumia to the UK was to ensure that he was kept away from visitors who may disturb his rest and recuperation period.

In a tweet Thursday morning, the second lady expressed appreciation to "all Ghanaians and well-wishers from across the world" for their prayers, support and best wishes.

"My husband and I are grateful to all Ghanaians and well-wishers from across the world for your prayers, support and best wishes. He is doing very well and we thank Allah for His grace. He looks forward to returning to work soon" she wrote.
