My First Job Was To Take Care Of Cats - Joselyn Dumas

Television Host and Actress Joselyn Dumas’ life hasn’t always been glamorous or picture-perfect. Her first paid job was to take care of an unnamed neighbour’s cats.

“My neighbour went away for summer holidays and I took care of her cats,” revealed Dumas to Joburg Post Online in a recent interview. “She paid me my first 100 pounds, which I used in purchasing my first winter coat. “

The driving force behind her passion is wanting to be a better version of herself every day and motivating the youth to build their confidence and strive to be great at whatever they do.

The host of reality Television Talk show ‘Keeping It Real With Joselyn Dumas’ debunked the notion that guys are intimated by her stature and fame.

She also expressed her concern about what she says is society “not doing as much for the boy child” as it should. Dumas is of the opinion that when society raises “Kings only then will they know how to treat a queen right.”

Born Joselyn Canfor-Dumas, she is celebrated for her work as an actress and Television Presenter.

The mother of one has a degree in Administrative law. She practiced as a Para legal before relocating to Ghana to pursue her dreams of becoming a Television Personality.

Her debut on Ghanaian Television was on music show, Rhythmz. She joined the erstwhile Viasat 1 to host its flagship Talk show, The One Show between 2010 and 2014.

Her first acting role was in the movie ‘Perfect Picture.’

Dumas got her big break in acting playing the role of ‘Jennifer Adams’ in Television Series ‘Adams Apple’ directed and produced by Shirley Frimpong-Manso.

The role earned her a ‘Best Actress In a Lead Role’ nomination at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards. She played lead roles in movies and series including ‘Potato Potahto,’ ‘Love or Something Like That,’ ‘A Sting in a Tale,’ and A Northern Affair.’

Dumas is the founder of Virgo Sun Company Limited, the production company behind her current Television Talk show. The company also has co-production and executive production credit for acclaimed movies.

She is currently a Brand Ambassador for Glo Telecommunications, Princess Paa by Ghandour Cosmetics, and MenzBanc Gold, Silver & Diamond Bullion Dealership Company, and former Brand Ambassador for Range Rover Evoque Ghana.
