Your Awards Shouldn’t Be Just Plaques, Add Money – Edem

Rapper Edem has admonished organisers of the 3Music Awards scheme to add cash and other better incentives to the awards for artistes rather than just plaques which have mostly been the case.

Nominees for the first edition of the three music awards were announced over the weekend.

With a focus on awarding the outstanding music and personalities, 3Music Awards would be an annual awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating achievements in Hip life/Hip-hop, Highlife, Afrobeats, Reggae/Dancehall, Gospel, Best use of social media and the best talent fanship in Ghana.

But in a tweet commending the effort of the organisers of the scheme, Edem who has always advocated for better remuneration for artistes and award schemes awarding artistes with money to support their projects said,

“Three Music.. Great initiative.. Please add Cash and other Succulent prices for Winners, just like GN awards has done… We would appreciate the game-changing initiative”.

The Ghanaian artiste has always been challenged with the lack of funds to support their work. However, most award schemes in Ghana award artistes with just plaques without supporting them with the needed funding to support grow their brand.
