Fighting Corruption Is Important Than Protecting The Constitution! – Amidu

Martin A.B.K Amidu says his quest to fight corruption led to the acceptance of the Special Prosecutor position.

"Fighting corruption is important than protecting the Constitution,” he noted.

According to the nominee, corruption has bedevilled the country since constitutional rule – hence, he will help fight the canker if given the nod to serve the position he has been nominated for.

Addressing Parliament’s Appointment’s Committee Tuesday, the anti-corruption campaigner stated that the country must be stabilized by protecting the national purse and ensuring that the citizens benefit immensely from the nation’s natural resources.

The nominee further stated that he considers his nomination as a fine opportunity to prevent any future coups, since according to him, coup makers have in the past, justified overthrowing governments because of endemic corruption.

It’s important that this country is stabilized to make sure that no one gets the excuse to stage a coup. This can be done when we protect the national purse,” Mr. Amidu said.

Born 1951, Martin Amidu has witnessed all of five coups and remembers how Generals were accused of corruption just for taking bank loans.
