Unemployment Cause of Juaben Attack - Nana Ofori Owusu

Alleged robbers on Monday raided the residence of the New Juaben Constituency Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Isaac Agyabeng.

The robbers bolted away with the constituency album, (a register containing list of voters), GHc4, 700, iPhone, Samsung phone and other personal belongings.

Following an arrest of the suspects, the name of the Constituency Organizer, Obeng Manu and an NPP activist, Pius Tabi also called Oboo Yanki were mentioned as the accessories to the robbery.

Commenting on the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', PPP Aspiring National Chairman Nana Ofori Owusu blamed the government's inability to create jobs for the incident.

According to him, the high rate of unemployment has made people desperate and aggressive to perpetrate a crime in order to make ends meet.

He noted that people find it lucrative to attain a political position because they think it's an avenue to siphon money and enrich themselves.

Nana Ofori Owusu expounded that if there were jobs in the system, people would not desperately compete each other for political power and positions.

He advised the government to place its priorities right in order to alleviate the economic frustrations and challenges the citizenry undergo.

“The money that will be distributed is not needed, for this ‘1 district, 1 Factory’ issue . . . People will get money from the States to be able to do their businesses. How are they going to get support? I’m saying that the monies that need to be spent should be spent on land acquisition. Should be spent on water, should be spent on electricity; should be spent on tax breaks for businesses”.

Meanwhile, the suspects involved in the robbery; Tanko, Wadoski, and Mafia, including Obeng Manu are currently in police custody assisting police investigations.
