NPP Robbery: Prosecute The Culprits; No One Is Above The Law - Sekondi MP

NPP Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon. Andrew Agyapa Mercer has condemned the alleged robbery that occurred at the party's New Juaben Constituency Secretary's residence monday dawn.

Some suspected robbers on Monday raided the Constituency Secretary, Isaac Agyabeng's residence bolting away with the constituency album, (a register containing list of voters), GHc4, 700, iPhone, Samsung phone and other personal belongings.

A report filed by Peace FM's Eastern Regional Correspondent, Michael Akrofi Monday morning indicated that a security man at the residence who recognized the robbers led the Police to arrest them at their hideout.

Upon interrogation by the Police, the suspects mentioned the name of the Constituency Organizer, Obeng Manu and Pius Tabi popularly called Oboo Yanki, an NPP activist for contracting them to rob Mr. Agyabeng.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the NPP Sekondi MP expressed disgust over the incident saying if any person within the party has an issue should follow the laid-down rules to address their concerns.

According to him, it's not in the power of any NPP faithful to "rob" or defy the appropriate structures to iron out their differences.

He therefore called on the Police to thoroughly investigate the issue and ensure that the perpetrators face the full rigors of the law.

He stressed that "some issues are not a party case" and so there should be no party interferences.

" . . prosecute them if they should be prosecuted or free if they have to be freed. They’re not above the law even if they’re party supporters. Some issues are not a party case. If you steal from someone’s room, is this one a party case? A party album is not your personal property. Where is the party issue in breaking into somebody’s house and you’re caught, where lies the party case? It’s a clear breach of the law”.

The three suspects, Tanko, Wadoski, and Mafia, including Obeng Manu are currently in police custody assisting police investigations.
